Blogging...

The knowledge of blog usage may come in handy for lessons that require multiple days of exploration, discussion, instruction that require students to build their knowledge base of subject matter over a span of days weeks or even months. This would allow multiple student and teacher contributers to add to the info stream via the blog and not only allow multiple open forum on a subject but the ability to recall information.

Seriously, I do believe that this is one of the tools that teachers should use to keep their students/families up to date on what they are learning in a classroom. I think that blogs work well with secondary students.

The one thing I am concerned about in terms of the "give and take" is having the ability as the teacher, to moderate all posts before they go public. I could see in in some of the higher grades this being a potential venue for students to post inappropriate content. I need to familiarize my self with the security features of blogger a bit better before I will feel comfortable opening up the discussion to my students.
